- Summary: Doesn't charge
- Comment: Its ok as an alarm clock but it doesn't seem to charge my phone. The battery shows as fully charged when i first take it out of the dock but it quickly (2 hours) reverts back to 40 or 50 percent. This is regardless of whether I use the standby button to turn off the display when I go to sleep. The phone charges fine with a normal usb connection to a computer or plug adapter.

- Summary: Makes a great device even better!
- Comment: I got my DROID back in November of 2009, shortly after they were first released, and I was instantly satisfied with it. Unfortunately, what I would come to find out is that although there was no shortage of the phones themselves, or the car GPS mount (which I also ended up buying), there was a distinct shortage of the multimedia docks.
There were workarounds, of course: you could go and buy a cheap knockoff of the mount, designed to merely hold the DROID in such a way as to allow you to snake your power cable through a slot, and have a magnet hit the DROID in just the right way so as to bring up the clock interface.
It just wouldn't have been the same, I thought to myself.
And in the end, I now know with complete certainty that I was right in that mindset.
The dock is very simple in construction: it's a weighted base with rubber feet to maintain traction on most surfaces, with a brushed aluminum surface. The phone sits very securely on the power receptacle in the provided groove, and there's no wobble if you go to interact with the screen while docked.
That being said, I guess I could see where some people would have grief with it: it IS very limited in what it'll allow to fit in the dock. That is, it's only gonna seat your phone, and nothing else. If you have one of those Bodyglove-type cases, you're gonna have to remove it before you can dock.
In the end, I can't see that as being a problem as I've never used a case for the DROID. The screen is, as far as I can tell, quite oleophobic (meaning you give it a quick wipe with a cloth, your shirt, etc., and it comes clean) and is very resistant to scratches, and the rest of the phone is just as resilient it seems. In the five months I've owned my phone, it has yet to take any damage.
But yes, the dock is an incredible (and well worth it, in my opinion) purchase to accompany your DROID. It gives you immediate and intuitive access to the clock app (which you can access without it, of course), and charges your phone, while at the same time allowing you a way to steady the phone for interaction as you lounge in bed.
My only complaint would be that although you can dim the screen of the DROID, it doesn't dim/turn off the menu strip of buttons along the bottom edge of the phone. But then, that's a DROID issue, not a dock issue.
Well worth the cost, I'd highly recommend this product to all DROID owners.

- Summary: Perfect for your droid!
- Comment: I love this. It works perfectly with my droid. Its soo easy just to slip my droid in there and charge it. And the alarm code mode is great. I dont find it too be too bright. And i love that it makes it easy to sit there and watch movies which I do alot of on my droid. The usb cable is the same one that comes with the phone tho so you might need to get a longer one.

- Summary: Okay...But Not As Good As It Could Be
- Comment: Like many other users here, I like the concept of the multimedia base. However, even after only using it for about 15 minutes, I found multiple things that I didn't like about it.
Pros:
1) Nice and sturdy.
2) Automatically detected by the Droid.
3) Love the features that come on it in docked mode (alarm clock, weather display, etc.)
4) Also love the bright/dim lighting features on the phone.
Cons:
1) Must remove case I use to mount in car and on my belt.
2) You lose the functionality of all other applications on the Droid. You cannot initiate any primary features while in docked mode...not even placing a phone call. Other applications that would be useful are calculator, 3rd party alarm clock apps, other media players (Pandora, et al), etc.
3. There is no speaker port on the dock. I was hoping to leave a set of speakers permently hooked up to the base, but come to find out there is no speaker port at all...you still have to attach them directly to the Droid.
4. You cannot choose your own skin...you must use the default that comes in docked mode.
Honestly, not sure I'm going to keep it. I paid $22.50 plus tax (after my 25% corporate discount) at the local Verizon store.

- Summary: Acts like the Car Charger
- Comment: I got this and was excited to put it to use but when I placed the phone into the cradle my droid went to CarDock mode. I have not been able to get to the Multimedia Dock mode yet and I have had this item for a week.
Going to return it and get the one on the Motorola site.
